My Story

Hello! My name is Sarika, and I am a registered social worker (RSW) with a Master of Social
Work (MSW) from Western University.

Before becoming a social worker, I worked as a lawyer helping individuals navigate various life-changing struggles. I bring seven years of experience working with survivors of gender-based violence, individuals with mental health challenges, and people with diverse backgrounds.

My practice incorporates mindfulness, goal setting, developing coping strategies, and providing psychoeducation. I take a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive approach to therapy, and I strive to build a supportive and collaborative relationship with my clients. My goal is to help clients find practical tools and strategies to handle life’s challenges and feel more confident moving forward. I work with adults of all ages, including older adults, to navigate issues such as stress, anxiety, family conflict, life transitions, grief and loss (including pet loss), chronic illness, caregiver burnout, and the pressures of being involved with family and criminal legal systems. I also recognize the importance of honouring the unique bond people share with animals, and I am passionate about helping people who work with animals or who are grieving a lost animal. I always love hearing stories or seeing photos of your animal companions!

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and my three rescue cats. I am a fan of audiobooks, especially cozy mysteries, and I love watching true crime documentaries.

did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” ― Maya Angelou

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Attawandaron, Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, and Lunaapeewak peoples who have longstanding relationships to the land, water and region of southwestern Ontario. The local First Nation communities of this area include Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Oneida Nation of the Thames, and Munsee-Delaware Nation. Additionally,  there is a growing urban Indigenous population who make the City of London home. We value the significant historical and contemporary contributions of local and regional First Nations of Turtle Island (North America).
